Tweetdeck – Best Twitter Client

Tweetdeck is probably the best Twitter Application for managing all your Twitter accounts from one location. According to the official website, it says that Tweetdeck “shows you everything you want to see at once, so you can stay organised and up to date.” With this application, you can tweet, read tweets, reply, read replies, send and read direct messages, search through Twitter and even filter your tweets.
But the best thing about Tweetdeck is that you can take an entire Twitter feed from an account and break it down into smaller and more manageable chunks of information. When you have thousands upon thousands of followers and many accounts, you have little choice but to use a Twitter Client like Tweetdeck.
Rundown of Features and Benefits
Here are a rundown of the main features of Tweetdeck as well as their benefits for you:
- Account Adder – Add as many Twitter accounts to your Tweetdeck account using the account adder located in the settings tab of the Twitter Client
- Tweet – Simply click on this button and you can tweet from any account added on Tweetdeck. In addition, you can shrink long URLs using a shortening service like bit.ly and you can upload photos too. However, it does not offer a tweet programming feature like Tweetlater.
- All Friends – Simply click on this button, choose an account and you can see the whole Twitter feed from that account. You can also filter out the tweets according to keyword.
- Mentions – Simply click on this button, choose an account and Tweetdeck will show you the tweets that mentioned you from that Twitter account. This is the equivalent of the @AccountName feature on Twitter.
- Direct Messages – This button allows you to see the direct messages you have received for an account in addition to allowing you to send them from this Twitter Client.
- Groups – This button will allow you to create groups of people within each Twitter account. This is a way of filtering people and only read the tweets of those you are really interested in.
- Twitscoop – By clicking this button, you will get a list of trending topics based on the keywords of the tweets in your Twitter accounts.
There are more cool features you can use on Tweetdeck apart from the main ones I’ve covered above.
A More Comprehensive Guide to Tweetdeck
Chris Spagnuolo from Edgehopper gives a more detailed and comprehensive guide on how to use Tweetdeck. He explains many of the features I’ve covered better than I have in addition to providing screenshots so that you can visually see how Tweetdeck works. I highly recommend his blog post on How To Use Tweetdeck if you are serious about learning how to make great use of this Twitter Client.
One last thing I forgot to mention is that Tweetdeck is free to download and use. It is an Adobe AIR application and can be installed right away from the website. I suggest you learn how to master Tweetdeck if you haven’t already because it can really save you a lot of time and effort.
